Area codes are funny little parts of a telephone number. After all, they don’t actually identify the individual caller, but they can still provide a surprising amount of information when you look into them. After all, if you live in New York City, and you receive a call from a number that has an area code that covers Houston, Texas, then you may be able to take a guess at who the caller may be even before you have a look at the rest of the digits. Maybe you only know one person who lives in Houston. Maybe you don’t know anyone at all so you can guess that it might actually be a telemarketer.
The funny thing about area codes is that, depending on which one is being used, it can indicate different things. While some designate entire states, others cover only a portion of a state, a city, or only part of a city. Therefore, if you are looking into a telephone number that has an area code you don’t recognize, you might want to look it up, because it will give you the geographical boundaries within which the caller is contained.
There are two main kinds of area code that you will encounter at some point in your life. There are simple geographically bound Barrackpore PIN codes.
